Carmel Cafe 2020
Dear Carmel Community:
On November 17, 2020 we held our annual Carmel Cafe on Zoom. This year’s café looked a little different from our sessions in past years, but we continued to have conversations that were productive and will help move the district forward.
To begin our cafe this year, we used the online tool, Thoughtexchange to gather thoughts and feedback from our community on four important topics affecting the district, especially during the pandemic. The topics include:
- Remote and Hybrid Learning
- Safety & Security
- Social-Emotional Well-Being
Overall, we had a great turnout on Thoughtexchange, with over 1100 thoughts and 27,000 reactions to these thoughts. On the Zoom session of the café, about 80 parents, staff and community members continued these conversations where we asked them for their suggestions and solutions for some of the ideas that were raised. The level of community participation on these important topics can only be an indication of the deep level of care and concern our community has for this school district. For that, we are extremely grateful. Please see the links to the summary for each of our questions.
The recording of this session will be posted here soon.
Thank you for your continued participation in doing what is best for students.
