Business-Minded Middle School Students Raise Money for Local Animal Rescue Organizations

Students pose at FBLA fundraising tableRecently, students from George Fischer Middle School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club hosted a bake sale with assistance from local businesses Arthur Avenue Deli and the Greek Village restaurant. It was a great example of local businesses and the Future Business Leaders partnering up for a positive cause in our community.

Through their efforts, the students raised nearly $800 for two local animal rescue organizations – the Putnam County Humane Society and the Wolf Conservation Center in North Salem – and the students were invited to visit both locations to see the efforts that their fundraising supports.

“As a Boy Scout, I love doing this because I love helping people. I said, ‘count me in’,” said one student of the club’s fundraising effort. “The Wolf Conservation Center was very nice and, for me, visiting the Putnam Humane Society was heartwarming.”

The fundraiser highlighted two of the district’s Carmel6Cs at work: Citizenship (engaging in the community) and Compassion (kindness)!
