Kent Primary “Hearts” Our Heroes

The snowy weather could not stop students at Kent Primary School from showing compassion and appreciation for the first responders in our community. Kent Primary’s “Hearts for Heroes” project, sponsored by the Kent Primary PTO, provided students with paper, stickers and other craft supplies to make appreciation cards that would put a smile on first responders’ faces. Compassion is just one of the 6C characteristics the District strives to instill in Carmel students.

The finished cards were hand-delivered to the local police department and fire department by students, which allowed them an opportunity to engage in our community – an example of Citizenship, another one of Carmel’s 6Cs, in action. The PTO also coordinated with Susan Kania, senior director of Strategic Initiatives and Events for Nuvance Health, to have a portion of the appreciation cards be included in a larger “Cards for Caregivers” project. Nuvance Health will include the cards in goodie bags created in appreciation for caregivers in its community.

“The PTO wanted to exemplify the 6Cs for Carmel, and we are beyond grateful and so proud of the students’ participation,” said Stephanie Perez, co-president of the Kent Primary School PTO.

“The weather didn’t stop them from spreading kindness in the community!”
