New Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services
Elizabeth A. Kennedy, Ed.D., who took over as Carmel Central School District’s new Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services in October, has hit the ground running.
Though she has only been in the district a few weeks, Dr. Kennedy has already attended SEPTO, or Special Ed PTO, meetings and started building relationships in the community.
“I am very excited to be joining this excellent school district community,” Dr. Kennedy said. “I know that the Carmel schools are dedicated to providing the best opportunities for children with special needs. I am also happy to have the chance to directly support our English as a New Language and Nursing Departments through this leadership role.”
Dr. Kennedy is a leader in special education, having served students of all ages for over 20 years. Most recently, she served as Director of Pupil Personnel Services in the Brewster Central School District, where she promoted programs that met the needs of all learners.
She holds a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership from Western Connecticut State University, an Advanced Diploma from The College of New Rochelle, a Master of Science in Education and Professional Diploma in School Psychology from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Fordham University.
In announcing Dr. Kennedy’s appointment by the Carmel Board of Education in September, Interim Superintendent of Schools Joseph McGrath said: “In addition to her impressive academic credentials, the Board recognized that Dr. Kennedy is a highly empathetic individual who has earned the trust of colleagues, parents and students. She is also a creative and adaptable leader who will develop and implement interventions that support all Carmel students.”
