Re-distribution of Happiness Hits Carmel Central School District
Recently, Superintendent Zehr received a lovely letter from Lowell Joerg, a 94-year-old from California, with an interesting hobby.
Joerg is a collector of vintage postcards and makes it his mission to reunite the postcards with their pictured locations. Included in his letter to Superintendent Zehr was a postcard of Carmel High School dating back several decades which he came across in his antiquing adventures.
Joerg calls his hobby “Re-distribution of Happiness,” because “our world sure needs it.” He and his hobby are famous (seriously... Google him!) and he has reunited many historical postcards over the years.
In his letter to the Superintendent, Joerg wrote:
“Some time ago, I was in an antique store and found this circa 1935 picture card item of your beautiful school. I hope you enjoy it. Lots of changes, I suppose. At any rate, I hope it brightens your day. I said to myself, ‘By golly, I’ll send it back where it can be appreciated.’ Heritage is important. Enlarged it will start a nice conversation.”
We are so honored to be the recipients of his happiness re-distribution. Thank you, Lowell!
