We all recognize that hungry children cannot learn, and part of our commitment to making sure that all of our students are fully prepared for academic success, is ensuring that all students begin the school day with a nutritious breakfast at home or at school. School breakfast is an ideal solution on mornings when kids are running late or parents have early commitments.
Breakfast is offered at GFMS each morning. Beginning July 1, 2019, students in New York State that are approved for reduced price meals will receive breakfast at no charge.
As of January 16, 2018, GFMS has modified its morning drop-off procedure from the buses in order to give students more time to eat breakfast at school. Upon arriving in the GFMS lot, each bus driver will ask students if they wish to go to the cafeteria for breakfast. Students who wish to eat breakfast will be let off the bus. Breakfast students may ONLY go to the cafeteria, and they will line up as they enter to buy breakfast. Students, who enter the building, but go to other areas, or do not purchase a breakfast, will receive a warning on the first infraction and will receive discipline on the second infraction.
Students who elect not to get off the bus for breakfast will remain on the bus until the 7:53 a.m. drop off. These students will go directly to their lockers and homeroom once they enter the building. Students will be allowed to enter the cafeteria before 8:04 a.m., so if your child wants to eat breakfast at school, please drop off your student before 7:45 a.m. or use the school bus.
