CHS Earth Science Students Investigate Engineering Design
Earth Science students at Carmel High School got their hands dirty, all in the name of science!
The students in Ms. Burnett's, Mr. Macchiarola's, Ms. Romanovsky's, and Mr. Woolley's classes had the opportunity to interact with geotechnical and environmental engineers from a local engineering firm through a hands-on demonstration.
Students were "hired" by a celebrity singer to design and test potential build sites for a new coastal California home. They got their hands dirty investigating the difference between sand, silt and clay particles, exploring techniques engineers use to build stronger structures. The student applied lessons and skills learned in the classroom to real-world problems such as landslides, earthquakes, and more.
