CHS Science Students Compete at Prestigious Westchester Science and Engineering Fair

Repanti and Ward

Carmel High School students continue to excel with scientific research.

Congratulations to senior Jaclyn Repanti and junior Riley Ward for competing in the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair (WESEF) and earning awards for their outstanding research projects.

Ward brought home a third-place award in the overall Chemistry category for her project, “Three Food Acid Lab Conclusion Analysis through Qualitative Coding, Cohen’s Kappa and Inter-Rater Reliability.” The project also earned her a Momentive – Solutions for a Sustainable World Award in the Chemistry category.

Repanti was awarded Honorable Mention in the Behavioral and Social Sciences category for her mastery in research with her project “Measuring Accountability Within Childcare.”

They have been working on their research projects as part of the Carmel High School Science Research program for several years and have previously presented their findings at the Eastern Junior Science and Humanities Symposium earlier this year.
